Bornheim lies North East of the centre and is another highly populated area in Frankfurt. Popular with young professionals due to its close proximity to the city centre, but also a popular choice with those with for families. Its many parks and the zoo close by makes this area heaven for kids.
As a result of Bornheim playing host to the city’s Red Light District over a century ago the area was given the nickname Das lustige Dorf (“The merry\funny village”). The area still retains its lively and happening energy with Berger Straße being the backbone of much of the activity. Berger Straße is also the longest shopping street in Frankfurt bringing all kinds of bars, restaurants, wine shops, boutiques and flowers shops together. It’s the perfect area to explore on a sunny day.
While in Bornheim make sure to check out Grünthersburg Park, the Zoo, Berger Street Food, Sandbar, Old Fritz, Naxos Studios and Cafe Süden.
You will find a variety of flats in the area. Because it’s a very popular area and quite central to many things in the city be sure to grab a flat when you see one. They don’t come so often.
